FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Yes, all of our consultations are free, whether it is in person, by phone, or by video.  Give us a call, and we will be happy to help 24/7!

Yes.  We can always look into acquiring a quick settlement for a client after an accident. As a matter of fact, some clients hire us for the sole purpose of negotiating a fair settlement for them, after self-representation fails.

At Schoenfeld Law Firm, we share our personal cell phone numbers with all of our clients. We are always a phone call, text, or email away – not only during standard 9-5 work hours but also on evenings and weekends! We create one-on-one relationships with our clients, and we personally return their calls. Constant Contact ensures that cases run smoothly, and helps achieve prompt case resolution.

An accident or injury case primarily lasts as long as you need medical treatment. A typical case lasts from a few weeks to a few months to resolve. While you are undergoing your medical treatment, our office will be working behind the scenes with the responsible insurance companies and defendants to get you the best settlement or judgment possible. Once your medical treatment is complete, we then begin negotiating a settlement for you with the responsible insurance company.

If a settlement is not an option, then we will file suit against the responsible parties. Litigation can last several months to a few years, depending on the particular dynamics of the case.

It does not cost you anything to hire us for an accident or injury case.

We work on a contingency fee basis. This means that we charge a percentage of any total recovery or settlement we get for you. If we do not get you a recovery, then you do not owe us a fee. Plain and simple. We only get paid if we are successful in winning your case.

Our goal is to create a stress-free experience with our clients. How do we do this? From start to finish, we will take care of all monetary costs related to the case, anywhere from doctors’ bills to court fees. We will make sure you do not have any out-of-pocket expenses related to your case during our representation of you. Eventually, we will recoup all of our law firm case expenses at the conclusion of your case through any settlement or judgment money we receive on your behalf.

It costs you nothing to speak with us and get helpful, sound advice about your case. We do not charge for legal guidance. When someone is in an accident, it can be very confusing about what the next steps should be. Naturally, you may have questions. We are here to help. Give us a call, and we can offer guidance as to how to proceed with your case.

Your case worth is determined by the extent of your damages. A case’s value is calculated primarily by considering your total medical bills, total lost wages, the severity of your injuries, and the extent of medical care that is needed to help you recover from an accident. It is quite common for individuals to compare their own cases to others, but this is a mistake. Every accident and every person’s injuries are different. And so, they should be evaluated individually. Call us for a free consultation!

Immediately after a car wreck, it is important to call the police and locate independent witnesses, if possible. After you have determined whether anyone needs immediate medical assistance, you should exchange car insurance information with the drivers of all vehicles involved. Once the police arrive, make sure to explain to the investigating officer how the accident occurred, what injuries you have, and the provide names of all the passengers in your vehicle.

Some people involved in auto accidents choose not to exchange insurance information or even call the police, but this can lead to future problems. It can be difficult to later prove to insurance companies who was at fault, or even that your accident actually took place, without a police report. The police report leaves a paper trail and gives guidance to insurance companies as to how the accident occurred. Also, take photos of all vehicles involved and the accident scene.

Most importantly, call Schoenfeld Law Firm, so we can provide more specific guidance on how to proceed with your case.

Yes, you should always call the police after an auto accident. It is important to keep the accident documented by creating a paper trail. Without a police report, it can be difficult to prove that a car wreck even took place.

Quite often, in an effort to save time, people involved in car wrecks agree not to call the police and to just exchange insurance information. This may sound okay at the time of the agreement, but the problem with this is that not all people are honest. You run the risk of the person at fault either later on shifting the blame to you or even completely denying that the accident ever took place. Calling the police can prevent this from happening because you gain the benefit of the police officer creating an accident report based on his or her independent investigation of the accident scene. The police report will then give the insurance companies involved some guidance as to how the accident actually took place.

Without police involvement, it’s almost as if the accident never took place because there is no documentation supporting your allegations of an accident occurring, and it is your word against the wrongdoer.

The legal process is stressful for those not familiar with it. Hiring an attorney after an accident will give you peace of mind. We take care of everything, from dealing with evasive insurance companies, arranging for you to receive medical treatment, to acquiring a fair settlement or judgment for you.

If you want to be fairly compensated for your accident injuries, you should hire an attorney. Personal injury attorneys know exactly what insurance companies need in order to prove a person’s damages after an accident. Additionally, attorneys know the proper procedure for filing a lawsuit on your behalf, if your case can not be fairly resolved.

If you do not have personal health insurance, our law firm can arrange for you to be treated by a doctor in any specialty for further medical care. You will not have to pay anything out of pocket. The doctor’s office will send your bill directly to our law office, and we will make sure it gets paid at the conclusion of your case out of any settlement or judgment.

When you hire Schoenfeld Law Firm, Stephen and Morlas Schoenfeld will be handling your case personally. They will not pawn your case off to an associate.
